Following the federal government’s decision to discontinue subsidies for utility stores, 446 outlets across the country have been closed to reduce expenses.
According to sources within the Utility Stores Corporation, discussions are underway to close over 500 additional stores. However, officials have assured that no employees will be laid off despite the closures.
Sources revealed that only loss-making stores are being shut down, with most closures affecting outlets in rural areas.
It is worth noting that the total number of utility stores nationwide stands at 3,982.
