(News Desk) Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed that the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) be conducted within the next six weeks, emphasizing the need for transparency in all exams. Chairing a recent cabinet meeting, Shah underscored the importance of fair testing processes, citing past controversies.
The meeting was informed that MDCAT has been conducted annually since 2017-18 in cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Larkana. The Chief Minister addressed concerns over the recent paper leak scandal, which is currently under review in the High Court, saying such incidents harm students’ futures and tarnish the examination system.
Shah approved a budget of Rs. 232 million for IBA Sukkur to conduct these exams. It was noted that, during the nationwide MDCAT exams, over 160,000 candidates appeared, with charges filed against more than 50 students for alleged cheating, and two students were detained.
In response to allegations of leaked exams, 15 students filed a petition in the Sindh High Court, questioning the credibility of the MDCAT exam conducted by Dow University of Health Sciences on September 22. They alleged that exam papers had surfaced online a day before the test, raising doubts about the transparency of the process.
