Pakistan defeated South Africa by 81 runs in the second ODI, securing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
In the match played at Cape Town, Pakistan set a target of 330 runs, and South Africa could only manage 248 runs in 43.1 overs in reply.
South Africa’s Henrik Klaasen played a valiant knock of 97 runs, but his efforts were not enough to save his team. Opener Tony de Zorzi was dismissed for 34 runs, while aggressive batter David Miller was out for 29 runs, falling to Shaheen Afridi. Captain Temba Bavuma made just 12 runs before returning to the pavilion. Rassie van der Dussen was out for 23 runs, and Aiden Markram was dismissed for 21 runs by Abrar Ahmed.
Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi was the standout bowler, claiming 4 wickets, while Naseem Shah took 3 wickets, and Abrar Ahmed claimed 2 wickets.
Earlier, Pakistan posted 329 runs in 49.5 overs, with Mohammad Rizwan contributing a brilliant 80 runs. Babar Azam made 73 runs, and deputy captain Salman Ali Agha scored 33 runs. Opener Saem Ayub made 25 runs, and Abdullah Shafiq was dismissed for a duck.
Kamran Ghulam played a fast-paced knock, scoring 63 runs off 32 balls, while Irfan Niazi made 15 runs before being dismissed by Jansen.
