A tragic shooting incident near Dunkirk in northern France has claimed the lives of five individuals, including two security personnel and two Afghan migrants.
The shooting occurred in the area of Loon-Plage, near Dunkirk. According to French media, the 22-year-old assailant surrendered to the police and confessed to the crime, admitting he was responsible for the deadly attack.
Reports stated that the suspect approached a police station in Grande-Synthe on Saturday and admitted to opening fire around 5 p.m. local time. However, the motive behind the shootings in Wormhout and Loon-Plage remains unclear.
Authorities recovered three firearms from the suspect’s vehicle. The incident occurred near a temporary shelter for migrants, where the victims had been living in makeshift tents for a long time.
