Pakistan’s renowned all-rounder Imad Wasim has announced his retirement from international cricket but confirmed that he will continue to play franchise cricket.
In a post on X, Imad Wasim stated, “Representing Pakistan has been the greatest honor of my life. Every moment with the national team has been memorable, but now it’s time to bid farewell to international cricket. I will continue to play franchise cricket.”
It’s noteworthy that Imad had previously announced his retirement in November 2023 but reversed his decision in March 2024, expressing availability for the T20 World Cup. He was included in Pakistan’s squad but delivered a below-par performance in the tournament.
During the T20 World Cup 2024, Imad scored just 19 runs off 29 balls in 2 innings and took 3 wickets in 11 overs across 3 matches, conceding 44 runs.
Looking at his international career, Imad represented Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 75 T20Is. In 55 ODIs, he scored 986 runs in 40 innings at an average of 42.86, including five half-centuries, and took 44 wickets in 53 innings.
In T20Is, he played 75 matches, scoring 554 runs in 50 innings at an average of 15.82 and a strike rate of 130, with one half-century. As a left-arm off-spinner, he claimed 73 wickets in 74 innings
