Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to resolve his reservations regarding the Madrasa Registration Bill.
The meeting took place at Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence, where the JUI-F leader raised concerns about President Asif Ali Zardari’s delay in signing the bill.
After the meeting, PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf told the media that the discussion was productive, and both leaders emphasized resolving the matter through mutual consensus.
JUI-F Senator Kamran Murtaza stated that Bilawal Bhutto has consistently supported the issue of madrasa registration and continues to do so. Meanwhile, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri clarified that the bill had been passed by both houses of Parliament, with only the President’s signature pending. PPP assured that the matter would be resolved promptly.
It is pertinent to mention that Maulana Fazlur Rehman had earlier given the government a deadline until December 7 to act on the madrasa bill. He announced that on December 8, in Peshawar, the next course of action would be revealed if the demands were not met.
The JUI-F chief warned that if the government fails to sign the approved bill, a march towards Islamabad will be initiated
