As Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prepares for its protest, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made a second phone call to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan to discuss the current political situation. However, the Ministry of Interior clarified that only one contact had been made, and they are awaiting PTI’s final response.
During their second telephone conversation, Minister Naqvi informed Barrister Gohar about an upcoming delegation of 80 foreign guests arriving in Pakistan. He emphasized that under these circumstances, hosting a protest or sit-in would be inappropriate.
In response, Barrister Gohar stated that consultations within the party were ongoing and that a final decision would be made after discussions with other party leaders.
Sources within PTI revealed that Barrister Gohar had informed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur about the phone conversation with the Interior Minister. He also stated that Naqvi would be informed of the final decision by 6 PM.
First Contact:
Earlier, Minister Naqvi had briefed Barrister Gohar about the situation following the Islamabad High Court’s order. Naqvi explained that they were bound by the court’s ruling and could not allow any rallies, protests, or sit-ins.
In that conversation, the Interior Minister also informed Gohar about the schedule and details of a high-level 80-member delegation from Belarus, arriving in Islamabad on November 24. The Belarusian President is expected to arrive on November 25, and the delegation will stay in Islamabad until November 27.
At that time, Barrister Gohar assured Naqvi that he would provide a final decision after consulting with the party leadership.
Mohsin Naqvi Issues a Warning:
Earlier, Mohsin Naqvi had warned that anyone coming to Islamabad for the protest would not leave without consequences. He stated that tear gas would be used, and arrests would be made.
While addressing Islamabad police at the Police Lines, Naqvi instructed them to work as a team to ensure the city’s security and keep order in the capital.
PML-N Criticizes PTI Leadership:
Meanwhile, PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry sharply criticized PTI’s leadership, accusing them of turning Pakistan into a spectacle. He claimed that statements from PTI’s founder and his wife were made with their consultation. He further stated that the party’s leadership was now in the hands of non-political and domestic women.
Chaudhry also pointed out that PTI had always targeted friendly countries, aiming to push Pakistan toward bankruptcy. He accused the party of spreading false narratives.
