The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has temporarily suspended mobile internet services in several areas of Balochistan to ensure public safety.
In an official statement, PTA announced, “Following directives from relevant authorities, mobile internet services have been temporarily disabled in certain areas of Balochistan. This step has been taken to safeguard the public and address prevailing security concerns in these regions.”
The move comes in the wake of escalating terrorist activities, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Last week, a devastating bomb blast at Quetta Railway Station claimed at least 24 lives and left 45 injured. Authorities revealed that the attack targeted military personnel from an infantry school.
In September, a roadside bomb explosion in the Kuchlak area near Quetta killed two police officers and injured another. Reports indicated that the explosive device was planted and detonated as the police vehicle passed by.
In August, Balochistan experienced a series of coordinated terrorist attacks on police stations, railway lines, and highways, resulting in 73 fatalities. These were among the deadliest attacks in recent years.
Security forces have since launched robust counter-terrorism operations. The suspension of internet services is part of a broader strategy to enhance public safety and prevent further violence in the region.
