Lahore (Sports Reporter): The International Cricket Council (ICC) is expected to send a high-level delegation to Pakistan next week as part of preparations for the 2025 Champions Trophy. According to sources, the ICC team plans to visit Lahore from November 10 to 12 to assess the arrangements for the tournament. Some members of the delegation may arrive earlier to conduct preliminary evaluations.
During their stay, an event related to the Champions Trophy is also scheduled, where key details, including the official schedule, are likely to be announced. The proposed schedule has already been shared with member countries.
Sources reveal that on November 11, an event with important guests and cricketers may take place. The specifics of the event and the delegation’s itinerary are still being finalized. Once approved, the Champions Trophy is set to take place in Pakistan from February 19, 2025, with matches hosted across three venues: Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.
As per the tentative schedule, the Champions Trophy will run from February 19 to March 9, with a “support period” from February 12 to 18 designated for team warm-up matches, media engagements, and promotional activities. A reserve day for the final has been scheduled for March 10.
In the preliminary groupings, Pakistan is placed in Group A alongside India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, while Group B consists of England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan. Lahore will host the final and a total of seven matches, Karachi’s National Stadium will host the opening match and one semifinal, while Rawalpindi will host the second semifinal and five other matches. The semifinals are set for March 5 and 6, with the final scheduled for March 9 in Lahore.
