Awami Muslim League chief and former federal minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has expressed skepticism over the ongoing negotiations between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stating that they will bear no results.
Speaking to the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi, Sheikh Rasheed remarked that while it’s commendable that PTI has formed a committee for talks with the government, these discussions are unlikely to lead to any outcome. He metaphorically added, “There’s only one grave but two people; one has to go inside.”
Sheikh Rasheed acknowledged the importance of dialogue globally, even after wars, but warned that failure to achieve results could worsen the situation. He cryptically remarked, “If talks fail, then it’s time for judo, karate, and Bangkok’s flames.”
The former minister referred to November 26 as a “horrific and cruel day” and emphasized the need to condemn the events of that day.
Sheikh Rasheed also mentioned his recent meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan, where Khan reassured him, “You and I are one; our unity is not two but eleven, and eleven is the number of progress.”
Commenting on the state of politics in Pakistan, he described the situation as politically unstable and reiterated his long-standing support for negotiations. He concluded, “My loyalty lies solely with PTI’s founder, Imran Khan; I know no one else
