The government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have initiated negotiations to address political instability and reduce ongoing tensions.
PTI leaders met with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq at the Speaker’s House. The meeting included Barrister Gohar, Umar Ayub, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, and Minister of Law Azam Nazir Tarar. Earlier, Salman Akram Raja and Asad Qaiser also held discussions with the Speaker.
According to sources, it was decided to use the parliament as the central platform for negotiations—a proposal presented by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, which both sides accepted.
The negotiations will proceed without any preconditions, aiming to foster political stability in the country. Both parties will soon finalize the names of their representatives for the negotiation committees through mutual consultation.
Government officials acknowledged that PTI initiated the talks, showing willingness to create an environment of reconciliation. The government welcomed the offer, emphasizing that dialogue is the way forward in politics, not chaos.
Sources claim PTI has stepped back from its initial demands but still insists on a judicial commission to probe the events of May 9 and November 26.
