Peshawar: An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mingora, Swat, and Malakand Division, on Saturday. The tremors, lasting 15 to 20 seconds, prompted residents to rush out of their homes and shops while reciting prayers.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the quake’s epicenter was located near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border at a depth of 212 kilometers. The tremors were also felt in Batagram, Lower Dir, Upper Chitral, Malakand, Shangla, Charsadda, and Mansehra.
This is the second time in 24 hours that residents of Mingora and surrounding areas experienced seismic activity, though no casualties or damage have been reported. Authorities are monitoring the situation to ensure safety measures are in place.
