Dubai: The body of Rabbi Zvi Kogan, a Jewish religious leader who went missing three days ago, has been discovered near Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Police have detained three suspects on charges of murder.
According to international sources, the 28-year-old Rabbi Kogan disappeared on Thursday. His body was found near the Oman border, but it remains unclear whether the murder occurred in Al Ain or if the body was transported there.
The Israeli government expressed deep sorrow over the incident, pledging that those responsible would be brought to justice.
Israeli media revealed that Kogan, who held dual Israeli and Moldovan citizenship, entered Dubai using his Moldovan passport.
Likud Party member Ayoub Kara commented that they are awaiting the findings of the UAE authorities’ investigation. However, Kara speculated that Iran might be behind the killing.
He added that once the investigation is concluded, the body would be transported to Israel for burial rites.
Meanwhile, UAE and Israeli officials have not disclosed further details regarding the motive or individuals potentially involved in the crime. Investigations are ongoing.
