Islamabad: Denmark’s global container shipping company, Maersk Line, has unveiled a $2 billion investment plan for Pakistan’s maritime sector, a move welcomed by the government. Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh, during a meeting with Maersk officials in Islamabad, highlighted this investment as a significant step towards bolstering Pakistan’s shipping and logistics industry.
Maersk representatives expressed full confidence in the Pakistani government and Ministry of Maritime Affairs, voicing satisfaction with the facilitation provided so far. Minister Qaiser assured Maersk of full support for streamlining their operations and addressing any challenges they may face, aiming to establish smooth operational frameworks. The minister expressed hope that this collaboration will attract further foreign investment and aid in the development of Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure.
