Federal Energy Minister Owais Leghari has announced that the current winter power package, effective for three months, could be extended if it proves successful.
He stated that the aim is to supply additional electricity to consumers without burdening capacity payments and to encourage industrial production through affordable electricity. Leghari explained that the program is set to operate annually from October 31 to March 1, and if it yields positive results, it could become a feature for the next five years.
The winter package for electricity consumers, set from December 2024 to February 2025, offers relief of up to 26 rupees per unit based on additional usage compared to last year.
