News Desk – Republican candidate Donald Trump has clinched victory in the U.S. presidential election, securing the required 270 electoral votes and being elected president for a second term.
According to U.S. broadcaster Fox News, Trump obtained 277 electoral votes, while Kamala Harris managed to secure 266 votes.
To win the presidential election, at least 270 of the 538 total electoral votes were necessary. Seven key swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, were considered crucial for either candidate’s victory.
Out of these seven swing states, Trump won in four: North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Wisconsin.
According to Voice of America, along with the presidential election, national, state, and local elections are also underway.
Elections are being held for all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, where elections are held every two years, with members elected for two-year terms. According to The New York Times, Republicans have secured 189 seats, while Democrats have won 166.
