The United States has voiced serious concerns over military courts sentencing civilians in cases related to the May 9 incidents.
US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that Washington is troubled by the sentencing of civilians involved in the May 9 protests through military tribunals. He added that such actions go against the principles of a fair trial, urging Pakistani authorities to uphold the constitutional guarantees of justice.
It is worth noting that the European Union had earlier expressed similar concerns, while the UK Foreign Office also criticized the practice of trying civilians in military courts.
