Former U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is prepared to sign a major mineral agreement. According to international media reports, Trump stated that negotiations between the U.S. and Ukraine regarding access to the European country’s natural resources are nearing completion.
This development comes at a time when Ukraine is seeking to strengthen its ties with Washington, hoping for additional aid and support to end its ongoing conflict with Russia. Trump revealed that Zelensky is willing to travel to Washington to finalize the deal, which could be worth up to a trillion dollars. He assured that the agreement would ensure American taxpayers receive returns on their investments.
Trump emphasized that the U.S. has already spent billions of dollars on the Russia-Ukraine war, which, according to him, should never have happened. When asked what Ukraine would gain from this deal, Trump cited the $350 billion in aid that the U.S. has already provided, including military equipment. Estimates suggest that Ukraine holds approximately 5% of the world’s raw material reserves, including 19 million tons of proven graphite deposits, essential for manufacturing batteries for electric vehicles.
