Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, addressed the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), highlighting the growing threat of terrorism originating from Afghanistan, particularly from the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He emphasized that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is crucial for regional security.
Speaking at the UNSC session on “Global Governance,” Dar stressed the need for collective efforts to ensure international peace and security. He warned that ongoing crises are threatening the world order established under the UN Charter.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to countering terrorism, describing it as a major global challenge. He also called for a resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions.
Earlier, while addressing an OIC meeting in New York, Dar stated that Afghanistan has been a source of continuous cross-border incursions. He urged the Afghan interim government to prevent its territory from being used against Pakistan.
Expressing concern over threats from India regarding the Line of Control (LoC) and Kashmir, Dar accused India of attempting to alter the demographic structure of Indian-occupied Kashmir by turning Muslim-majority areas into Hindu-majority regions. He called this a grave violation of international laws
