Improvement in Child Mortality Rates in Sindh: Bilawal Bhutto

Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto, has stated that the Sindh government is taking revolutionary steps to improve child healthcare. Speaking at an event in Karachi, he remarked that this journey began in 2010 and has continued to date. He acknowledged the contributions of the ChildLife team, nurses, doctors, and all involved, including the health ministry, in addressing the critical issue of child mortality in Sindh.

Bilawal Bhutto expressed pride in the fact that the hard work and success of Sindh are now being recognized internationally. He congratulated all those involved in this effort. He noted that while newborn mortality rates remain high in Pakistan, Sindh has often faced criticism on this issue. Media outlets frequently highlighted child mortality in breaking news, particularly focusing on Tharparkar and other areas of Sindh.

He elaborated that 15 years ago, significant steps were taken in Sindh, including a noteworthy public-private partnership with the ChildLife Foundation.

Bilawal further stated that free and quality healthcare is now being provided across Sindh, reaching every tehsil. He added that telemedicine facilities have been established in 106 tehsils of the province. According to a report by the University of California, there has been a notable decline in child mortality rates, acknowledging the positive impact of Sindh government initiatives.
