A coal mine in Sanjdi, Balochistan, collapsed due to gas accumulation, trapping 12 workers under the debris. Rescue teams have arrived at the site and are actively working to retrieve the trapped miners, though gas and debris are complicating the rescue efforts.
According to Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, the affected mine is located approximately 40 kilometers from Quetta. Minister for Mines and Finance, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, has taken strict notice of the incident, directed the Chief Mines Inspector to dispatch two additional rescue teams to the site, and ordered an investigation into the alleged violation of safety protocols.
The Deputy Director of Rescue stated that the miners are trapped at a depth of 4,200 feet. Two PDMA officials fainted due to gas exposure. The Chief Mines Inspector confirmed that the collapse was triggered by a gas explosion inside the mine.
