It has been revealed that former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was allegedly poisoned in Russia. In December, before opposition forces took control of Damascus, Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia with his family, where Russia granted them asylum on humanitarian grounds.
Foreign media reports have now disclosed that an attempt was made to poison and kill Bashar al-Assad in Moscow. According to an online account believed to be run by a former senior Russian spy, Bashar al-Assad fell ill in Moscow on Sunday. The 59-year-old former president sought medical attention and complained of severe coughing and difficulty breathing.
Reports indicate that Bashar al-Assad was treated at his apartment, and by Monday, his condition had stabilized. Poisoning was confirmed through medical testing, although the account did not directly reference the sources of this information.
The Russian government has not yet confirmed the incident.
