Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the immediate arrest of those involved in human trafficking, setting a one-week deadline.
Chairing a high-level meeting on combating human trafficking, the Prime Minister was briefed on the measures taken to curb this crime in the country.
During the meeting, the committee headed by Mushtaq Sukhera, formed to investigate the Greece boat tragedy, presented its report. The Prime Minister commended the committee for its comprehensive findings.
He directed that legal actions against human traffickers be intensified and streamlined. Furthermore, he ordered the formation of a new committee to devise a sustainable solution to eliminate human trafficking.
Expressing concern over the involvement of facilitating government officials, the Prime Minister questioned why disciplinary actions had not been taken against them yet.
He emphasized the need to enhance visa verification processes and related regulations. The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating human trafficking entirely from the country.
